Apple has recently been granted a new patent called “Measurement of Virtual Listening Environment” in order to improve the user experience of AirPods. With this technology, the headphones aim to dynamically adjust their acoustics according to different environments to provide a better listening experience for users.
Will the new AirPods models have Virtual Listening Environment Measurement?
The sound quality of AirPods is generally considered good, even very good, with rich bass and clear treble. These headphones also use a specially designed chip to enhance the sound quality and provide seamless connectivity with Apple devices.
The headphones feature microphones that reduce background noise and improve audio clarity during phone calls and voice commands. They also have an adaptive equalizer that automatically adjusts the music according to the shape of the user’s ear for optimal sound quality.
Apple is now working on new developments for future AirPods and the latest patent reveals the company’s plans for this. They hope to better process binaural sound using digital signal processing technologies, microphones, and spatial audio functions.
On April 8th, Apple was granted a technical patent called “Measurement of Virtual Listening Environment” from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This technology aims to dynamically adjust the acoustics of the headphones according to different environments to improve the listening experience for users.
The patent description includes scenarios where users can listen to audio or video content in various environments such as in a car, on the grass, in a classroom, on a train, or in a living room. They hope to achieve this by using microphones and spatial audio functions to better process binaural sound and simulate real-life sounds in the ear canal.
As a result, users will be provided with an “interactive” audio experience. This means that the audio content will feel more three-dimensional and immersive, creating a sense of space and depth. This feature called “Measurement of Virtual Listening Environment” is expected to come in the third generation AirPods Pro.
